Post 9: The Liminal Space

There is a season for everything under the sun. A time for expansion and growth as well as a time of contraction and letting go. I always say with every experience we have, there is a beginning, the actual experience itself and then the end. It’s a natural part of life, of existence in this reality.

If you find yourself in that “liminal space” of what was to what is next, a time of transition and not knowing, it can be a scary and uncertain place to be. To feel rootless and out of sorts. To feel lost and confused. To feel a sense of grief that something has ended. This is the place of transformation and of new beginnings. But at first it may seem nothing like that.

There is a tendency in society to do more to be more, to figure it all out, to work harder and try harder to just move on and fill that next space. But often than not it is wise to just be and reflect on what was in order to gain the wisdom and “gold” so to speak of that very in between place that is necessary for future growth. What if that last job or last relationship had some soul learning that in order to recognise means to take the time to step back and see it and feel it into your beingness? Rather than jumping into the next dissatisfied job or relationship where you may repeat the behaviours from the previous.

When we don’t know what to do, when we don’t know what is next it means that there is potential for anything. It means we have some time and space to get a clearer vision of what is to be. We can allow for time to be called into inspired action from the heart and soul. We can allow for us to be afraid but know that all we need to do is the next best thing, take that next step no matter how small it may seem in the grand scheme of things. It all matters in the end, those seemingly inconsequential steps that lead you to exactly where you need to be. And realise there is a process. New beginnings require a time of gestation. The fruit on the tree bears fruit only when ready.

Remember all the times when you were in transition and how eventually you found your new footing in that new place. Everything in this universe is in a state of flux and change. Everything passes. Embrace the process and trust that within the unknown lies infinite potential.
